I have my library empty, but my iphone has stuff in it. I just want to delete everything on the iphone and just have it empty. I have tried syncing empty library, but iphone still have the stuff.

How do I empty up the iphone without upgrading to new firmware?

I just want to free up my music and videos on the phone.

Connect your iPhone to your computer and deselect the checkboxes to sync Music, Moves, TV shows, etc. in each respective tab in iTunes, like this one:

5684

After you've deselected all of these boxes, sync your iPhone and all of the media should be removed.

I tried that. It didn't work. I still have stuff in my iphone. My library on the PC is empty. I am syncing an empty library to iphone. Iphone doesn't become empty but retains old stuffs. How can I delete the stuff on the iphone either via PC or on the iphone itself?

Define "stuff". It still has music, video, and podcasts?

I am guessing he means messages, contacts, etc. Umm, just restore as a new iPhone dude. Or look for an application called Erase All (don't know where to get it but I heard about it and it removes contacts and stuff).

i think this guy is referring to "other" that taking up space on his harddrive. probably wants all 8 or 16 gigs which factory software is keeping it from being like that.
