It's been about 3 days and the apple catalogue in India still has the we are updating. I really want to know how much the new iMac will cost in India.

Go onto the Regular website. Look at the price. Google Convert the price and then you will have an estimation on costs.

Usually the prices aren't an exact conversion and on top of that there is taxes

Same in Egypt. Prices here are always much higher than in the USA due to taxes and stuff.

I know... I recently got myself the new nano. It should have cost 7500 INR if converted from the USD. But I had to cough up 9400 INR!!

When I bought my MacBook Pro from BestBuy it cost around $2400 - $2500, which is equivalent to 13,114 EGP (Egyptian Pounds), but here it cost around 17,500 - 180,000 EGP. So notice the difference? Yeah, huge one. And that's the case with all Apple products, especially iPhones. iPhone 3G 8gb locked to a certain provider here costs $695 USD. You don't have to purchase a plan, but it's locked anyway. Same with the 3GS, the 16gb costs $860 USD.

The catalogue is finally up! not the educational one though... Everything is about 10% more than the converted US prices. I think the educational prices will provide a breather. I have wanted to get a mac for a long time, but if the cheapest mac is more than the price of a high end PC, throw Windows 7 in the equation... well you do the math!

Yup. Apple's opening an online store in India. Finally! I hate reliance and their pathetic iStore service. I was gonna buy me the new 27 inch but I'll wait and buy online instead, edu discounts galore.

I have a friend who's working as a genius and also a friend working as an R&D specialist here in Boston who claim it is so. Also, I called up India customer care and they said so themselves, expect it to be up before the 15th of this month. Also, there's some rumors about the 3gs but I won't rely on them to make a statement here.

Base model is 1199.99 in the US use a currency converter.
