Where are you from?

You need to get an iPhone that is either unlocked or... a sim card from an official iPhone carrier.

IME here, most people have not been able to get the AT&T gophone SIM's to work with on the 3x FW. Yvilkittyinspace (I think that's his name) has it working. I've never tried it. I keep meaning to buy one of those phones so I can test it.

Well I had service. Now cancelled it after 3 months. But was wondering if it was possible.

As long as the iPhone is using 3.0, 3.01, 3.1.1 or 3.1.2, the iPhone will work perfectly. It won't need to be unlocked and the iPhone will even activate with the sim. 3G service will also work on the prepaid.

I have heard now though that AT&T is restricting newly activated GoPhone sims from being used in another phone for about six months. After this time, they don't care what phone you use with the prepaid. This would explain why alot of people on these forums haven't been able to use a new GoPhone sim in the iPhone. Read THIS (http://howardforums.com/showpost.php?p=13125679&postcount=2) for more details.

You don't say if you are in the U.S. so I am just assuming you are.

Yeah, it can't hurt to give it a try. It's only $20 or $30. Keep us updated.

I donīt think itīll work, but try.
Everytime you insert a new sim card to the iPHone, you need to connect it to iTunes in order to get a signal. If iTunes doesnīt recognize or "approves" the SIM card, you wonīt get a signal.

It wouldnīt hurt to try, though ;)

Thanks Caitoz. I think u right. I cane back to this forum to say that even if the prepaid sim worked on 3GS, and it only gave me EDGE? I'd still be cool with it. Could EDGE only work on these prepaid sims??

What do you mean? You tried it and it gave you EDGE connectivity only, but no cellular signal?? Did I get it right?

3G won't work with the T-Mobile SIM's because the iPhone isn't compatible with their 3G network. You have to disable 3G and use Egde.

If you are able to get an AT&T prepaid SIM working, 3G should work, as long as it's a 3G SIM.

No, you no longer need to connect to iTunes every time you insert an activated sim in an iPhone. This all changed once 3.0 got here.
