Looks amazing. Especially the 27inch model. Now even the imacs are Unibody. No more steel edge, and plastic black back. Its all Aluminum. Not to mention wireless magic mouse and keyboard come with it standard. The screen resolution goes higher than 1080p and with its LED's remains energy star certified. The video mentions something about the processor efficiently using power and or cutting power between keystrokes.
They also did a new unibody white mac for 999. It has multi touch, the 7 hour battery, they got rid of a few peripherals, and its got better processors etc. I wish i waited and got this version. I hate the creaking that the white plastic makes for mine however all apple did was make the body more Macbookpro like... it still is plastic.
And the new "Magic mouse". No buttons. Its basically an iphone for a mouse that cost about 70USD. Def a must have!!!! because my mighty mouse has put me thru hell, and i havent used it ever since the stupid scroll ball kept requiring a cleaning. I've used it for maybe 2months and stopped using it altogether.
A few tidbits. The iMac and the Macbook are using a new ichat camera. Instead of being square, its now round.
The iMac's front is basically an entire screen. The glass goes all the way to the edge.
New Mac mini running snow leopard.
New Apple Remote. (kinda reminds me of EVA from Wally)
Now you can get the Quadcore iMac for 2grand.

You're right, it's awesome.

I also want the 27" screen :p. I think I'll use it as a TV, as a computer screen, and as screen for my console. It's freaking amazing.

Buy a used 13 inch MacBook Pro, a 21" Apple screen, MBP docking station, keyboard, and mouse, too! Lol :p You'll by then have both iMac and MacBook Pro.

Haha, I'm just in love with the size of the 13 inch MacBook Pro and the aluminum casing...

I like that Mac Mini, but I will have to wait. I still need to pay off my MBP.

I got my 24" iMac back in like April so I'm still happy with it but the new 27" is very tempting.

The i7s are pretty badass. Definitely a huge improvement in the iMacs.
I'll probably give the magic mouse a shot, but I'm so used to 8 programmable buttons on my logitech...

I assume with the Mac Mini you have to purchase the keyboard and mouse separately? I don't see on the Apple website where it is included in the box.

I've had my eye on a 17" MacBook Pro for a while, but not anymore. I'll be picking up a new iMac ASAP, and preferably a 27" - that thing would be amazing to use as a TV.

I already have a USB mouse and a Mac keyboard. I plan to order a KVM as well so I can hook both the PC and the Mini up to the same keyboard, mouse and monitor. It'll be nice not to have to worry about hacking my PC with OSX (hackint0sh).

Never owned a Mac before. If I can save up enough money by Christmas I might buy it for myself. :)
As a matter of fact, the only Apple products I've owned is my 32GB iPod Video & my iPhone 3G.

This will also be my first Apple product besides the iPhone and a Mac keyboard.

How does that work if the PC and mini are both turned on? Is there a switch?

I can't wait until my local Apple stores get the Magic Mouse in. My Mighty Mouse needs to go.

A lot of KVM switches will use the default of pressing "Scroll Lock" twice to switch the display between the two computers. IMO, that's the best solution opposed to some silly physical switch you'd have to flick (I'm sure there are some like that out there).

True. A lot of KVMs have hot buttons.

I second that. If I have to clean the stupid ball on this damn Mighty Mouse one more time in order for it to be able to simply scroll down, I'm going to hurt someone.

Kev, congrats!!
Was the choice of a Mini over a MBP (or another model) a no-brainer for you? I have a desktop and a laptop both running Windows 7. I'm not looking to replace either but would definitely love to add a Mac to my collection. I'm debating whether or not the added money for the 13 inch MBP is worth it or should I go the route you're going and get a Mini (saving hundreds of dollars) and just the KVM solution? I mean, do I need another laptop just for the sake of having the Mac OS on it...?
Help!

So many questions! :ok:ok
I bought the new Mini as a second computer to my homebuilt PC. I have a KVM on the way to share with.
I had hackint0shed my PC several times, and it generally ran very well, but I finally wanted to have an actual Mac that didn't need a boatload of hacking to maintain. Plus, the Mini is upgradeable (except for the CPU) if you what you're doing. There's already an EFI hack out to enable running 8 gigs of RAM in the new Minis.
I also have no need for a laptop right now.

Great, thanks for the information! You know, now that you mention that (bolded above), I really don't use my laptop much either, except when I'm laying in bed or downstairs, etc. It really doesn't get used that much so I guess I don't know how much I'll get out of a $1200+ laptop...

2 or 4 GB RAM?
My laptop has only left my desk twice, but I use it every day. A mini would have been a better choice for me. It was $1600, and it's not even a pro.

The Mini I bought has 2 gigs of RAM, but I can upgrade later if I want to. RAM is pretty cheap.

Sweet.
Laptops are rather superfluous when you've got an iPhone.

Tell me about it! I clean mine DAILY. I took it to Apple and they said there was a lot of fur in there. I don't even have a cat! Grr.

I'm happy with my MBP even though I would rarely travel with it. I wanted an all inclusive Mac computer. It was a lot of coin to drop on a computer but being my very first Apple computer I'm glad I went with it. I think I will keep my desktop system as a PC based computer. Those Mac Mini's do look nice though saving on a lot of real estate. Congrats Kev on your purchase.
