Any good recommendations for an HD video camera for 300 USD or less?
Mainly used for "slice of life" "youtube" "precious moments" etc. Can be an add on to a good Digital Camera if need be but last resort.

I bought a Flip Mino HD last winter because I wanted one that was pocket size. My brother bought a Kodak zi6 at the same time. The Kodak's are a little bit bigger, and they don't do custom casing designs, but the video quality is better and they cost less.

Yikes. I don't know about that, Europa. Have you seen the Flip MinoHD 120? It's $229 right now and the specs are very impressive. Especially storage. Seriously the zi6 comes with 128mb and the MinoHD has an 8gb hard drive. Plus, they're both 720p....

I got the cheap version of one of these a few years ago to keep on the fishing boat, good stuff for the money.

I have last years version. IIRC, it was $229. It's HD ,720p, 30 fps,4 GB built in flash memory, and holds 60 minutes of recorded video.
Hold on, I'll post a pic so you can see the design I chose.
It's not a bad video camera and it's very portable.

Gotcha. I think they made the LCD screen bigger, a bit thinner, bigger hard drive, etc. in this new model. Which is great for the price!

Everyone keeps swearing by these Mino cameras. I've never heard of them before. I need a camera that can zoom.

I agree. I usually just use my 3GS.

London, here's a really short video I just did showing the Flip Mino HD zoom capabilities. Remember, I have last years version.

I noticed when you zoomed in on the chess set it didn't seem to automatically focus, it kind of stayed blurry...

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I recommended the Kodak.

But...perhaps this was fixed or improved in the new version? Who knows.
