Hello,
Please help me, I am desperate! Apple recently replaced my faulty iPhone 3G. When I had my old iPhone, it would always backup whenever I plugged it in, just as it is meant to. I now have a knew blank iPhone, and I want to get all my contacts, apps, notes etc. from the backup of my old phone (saved on my computer) onto my new iPhone. When I look in the backup folder in Windows, there are only two folders, which seems strang. Nevertheless, one should be enough. They are both found in iTunes under edit>preferences>devices. When I right click my iPhone and press restore, it asks me which of the two backups I would like to use. I have tried both. When I press 'restore', this message instantly appears:
'The setting for your iPhone have been restored. Please leave your iPhone connected. It will appear in the iTunes after it restarts'
The iPhone then disappears from iTunes, but definitely does not restart, as I can still use all of it's functions fully at that moment. The iPhone does not reappear in iTunes until I physically disconnect it and reconnect it. Please help, I would really appreciate it!
Thanky You!

when you back up and iphone, that backup will only work with that iphone, so basically its one backup per iphone...the only option left here is to set up as new,

Mr Reggaeton, you talk so much BS sometimes.
OP - please ignore this terrible advice. Follow this step by step tutorial and you can restore from any backup.

Mr R. - Any iPhone running the same version software can be restored to any backup.

Dont patronise me, ill talk to you however I like. Boy.
Secondly, dont you think because you got an "error" message, you may have been doing something wrong?!?!
Finally, if the advise your giving is just opinion, please state so in your post. If the OP read that and restored as a new device then they have wasted time and effort needlessly.

Thanks guys, but I still had the problem.
1) I know that I can use the same backups for different phones.
2) I know how to backup (as in the tutorial), but my problem was that the 'restore' button had no effect. I was looking for someone to tell me of a known error or something.
Anyway, I 'solved' the matter by moving the backup files to a computer which I've never plugged my phone into before and doing it on there. I hope this helps someone in the future.
Thanks for your time.
