I have never really used a MAC regularly - always a PC for Access, Outlook, Excel, etc. If I get a MAC, is the transition an easy one or is there a big learning curve?

It's very easy these days... you can also use VMware or Parallels to run Windows if you need.

The transition will be a very easy and smooth one. After a few hours of use you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. I know I did. I was a windows user for way too many years before making the switch.

And most likely Parallels or VMware Fusion, unless you want to reboot to run Windows via Bootcamp.

New version of Fusion comes out next week, so I'd wait if you are thinking of going that route.

Which is the best virtual environment for running Windows, in your opinions?

personally i used pc for most of my life, but then i went to mac and within weeks i figured out all of the mac related shortcuts and now i would never go back to a pc. it depends if you're a computer person in general, but it's really not that hard.

why do you want a mac anyways? do you do a lot of editing or is it just for the convienience?

Well, the new iMacs and Minis are being updated in the Apple store right now, so it may be Mac Mini time for me...
