From what I have read, BossPref is on it way out and SBSettings is the newest app.
My question is since I have both on my Iphone, can I delete BossPref without any problems?
Your expert advise is requested and appreciated. Thanks!

SBSettings is pretty much the de facto standard now. You'll love using it. You don't need BossPrefs anymore.

No problem. SBSettings is often the first app people install after they jailbreak.

After Cydia... :)

Unless they used QuickPWN or Pwnage Tool, which installs Cydia during the jailbreak. :)

Haha, that's pretty funny. I never really thought about it, but it definitely is the first app I install...
Ok, I need help. I installed SBSettings and openssh, neither of which has an icon.
How do I launch these?

For SBSettings just swipe your finger across the top of your phone where the status bar is. Then once it drops down, click "more" and then "set toggles". Set SSH to ON and close. After respring open SBSettings again and you should see SSH either green or red. Green means it's active.
Just remember to turn it off if you are not using SSH so no one can access your phone.
THanks. Unfortunately, I just rebooted and my phone is now stuck on the apple logo....wait, I just heard the "hardware detected" tone in Windows. Maybe it will, yes it booted. Thank God.

Just went through the same thing yesterday. It would be nice if they told you about swiping the status bar in the app description.

It's there, people just don't read the details anymore. ;)

I read that, but I guess I failed to comprehend that it was referring to the Phone's main status bar, and not the status bar of the SBSettings program itself, which is where my confusion came from.
This was also right after I installed Openssh and read that there was no icon for it either.

Installing SBSettings scares the crap out of me. With my first 3.0 jailbreak, I got an infinite boot sequence when installing SBSettings, and every time since then it has hung on installation and I've had to hard reboot the phone. It always takes about 4 minutes to reboot when I do this, and it scares me every time.
Just happened again to me last night now on 3.1.2... what is it with the installation of this app? Anyone else get such weirdness?

I got the same issue, when I installed it yesterday. Had to do a hard re-boot in order for it to respond. All is well now (I hope)

That's the funny thing about software, it just all depends. I've never had a single problem installing SBSettings, like you speak of, Dave. Interesting. I don't know what to tell you...

Same here. I must have read that 5 times.

Thankfully no.

I usually install aptBackup:ok:ok
Well, I have a problem with my phone, "hanging" on a reboot anyway. If I shut it down and wait 10 seconds and start it back up, it is usually stuck at the Apple logo indefinitely.
I found that if I do a hard reset and let go before the Apple logo appears, I can connect a cable and have it boot from that fine. For some reason it will just hang if I try to boot from the sleep/wake key.

SBSettings is generally the first Cydia app I install after jailbreaking. It's never caused me any problems.

Are you jailbroken currently?
Are you jailbroken currently?
Yes, I jailbroke about 20 minutes before my first post in this thread.
Yes I know, I finally did it.
But the problem with the phone not booting correctly from the sleep/wake button was present before I jailbroke.
