Judging from this article I wonder if something is in the works with Apple?

We've just received a tip that an iPhone radio.app is being developed in-house by Apple for use on the iPhone and iPod touch. From what we know, the app will be allowed to operate in the background like iPod.app and will offer the same functionality as the FM radio in the new iPod Nanos.

I don't really care one way or the other. I have enough on my iPhone to keep me plenty busy, and so many other alternatives to radio.

Exactly my point.

The only raido I listen to I have to stream from other states, so local radio is not that big of a deal for me. But who knows I might use it.

I might use it when I am in the car because there's a certain channel that my cassette doesn't get for some reason. Since I'll connect my iPhone 3G (will be mine in a few hours, finally!) to the cassette by the AUX cable, I'll be able to listen to the Radio in the car. Am I right?

I am not so hopeful. We'd have heard about it long before now.Plus, I would probably have had to pay for a computer upgrade.

That should work. I can listen to any audio on my iPhone through my radio's AUX jack.

Yeah, I was hoping for that too. Because on the 2G, AUX and other normal 3.5mm jacks don't work, you need iPhone compatible ones (which are rare to find here).

Yawn indeed. I rarely listen to the radio for music (except the excellent WXPN, which has their own app). I would only use an AM/FM app to listen to sportscasts, and they're all on blackout for internet transmission anyway, so I wouldn't get them.

Did you know you can carefully carve away a small ring from the rubber encasing on the end of most 3.5mm plugs (being careful not to cut into any wire) to make it fit your V1? All my cables around the house here are treated this way from my V1 days. It works fine and eliminates the need for any adapters.

Lol, I wouldn't want to try that because I know I'll screw the jacks. I am getting rid of the 2G today and getting a 3G anyway so that won't be a problem!
