Remote Start?

Has anyone come up with a way to use a remote start/ alarm system from the iPhone via an application or ? Directed Electronics looks to release such a device, but who knows when or if it will hit the market.

Wondering if anyone has taken on such a project as a DIY? Or... if there is a company that has designed it for an existing system and or new system?
