I checked this out tonight and it works quite well. What is cool about this is that it connects you to Wikipedia with your location of interest.Basically what Cyclopedia does is use Wikipedia (http://www.***********.com/iphoneappreviews/cyclopedia-augmented-reality-app-review/#) mixed with the new Augmented Reality 3G(S) technology. So while in the Cyclopedia App you are using your camcorder feature to look at your surroundings. From there you will see Wikipedia references to whats on screen.

It sells for $1.99 in the App Store. It will only work for 3GS however.

I just bought it, and will test it more thoroughly later on. The interface is very nicely done!

In addition, this app can only be used on a 3GS (as mentioned) running on 3.1

I believe this app was on the G1. I remember a friend showing me, it would show star constellations or something similar. I've been looking forward to using something like this. Suppose I might have to jump to a Jailbroken version of 3.1 ;)

It looks a lot better than the Yelp! augmented reality hack.

I don't have a 3G S (a 3G for now) but I hope to get either the 2010 or 2011 iPhone. There should be a lot more augmented reality apps by then.

Yes, you are right. I find the AR in Yelp! not always accurate at least in the L.A. area. No doubt by 2010 and 2011 there will be amazing AR applications. This is only the very beginning.

Well, as I'm on 3.1.2 now, this app works.

I must say, it's quite accurate as well. It's good, I've been spinning round in circles looking at different things and it works perfectly, the compass is obviously essential. Very good.

I'm looking forward to updates with more cool features.

Awesome iPhoneWarrior. I have been doing the same here. Of course, in L.A. we have many landmarks so I have dozens popping up on my screen. It makes good use of the compass and as far as I can tell is very accurate with the locations. It is also useful to click on the icons to get more Wikipedia informaton about the places of interest.

p.s. I still need to update to 3.1.2

Did you update to 3.1? I was just going to buy it but I'm on 3.0.1.

This app still has a long way to go, as I mentioned in a previous post, there was something very similar for the G1 (original android phone). It was probably better than this... and thats technology over a year old. So in the next couple of updates this app will be awesome. I'm glad I payed the price I did for it now as I can see it costing a lot more in the future.

I also like the fact that when you tap on the icons it gives you a brief description, but if you want more, you ask for more. I haven't played with the maps bit yet. I'm still spinning (dizzy) ;)

Looks like cool app, will have to try that... I've been using "wikitude" which I think is better than yelp, and it's free for now...."Robotvision" looks promising too.

I looked at those too and even though they are free I wasn't that impressed with their interface.

Glad you enjoy this. I discover new things about this app, such as the radius, and sliding the points of interest into view. It does have that 'wow' factor with people. I can't say I have a real need right now for it, but if I traveled somewhere I can see using it more.

This is an application that must be everyone's need. I am too interested to use it. Many people can learn many things easily now by the help of this application. Thanks for letting us know about it.
