How did this happen? Apple seems to be denying their dissaproval of Google Voice.

I think cause Vonage was a VOIP app over wifi. Google Voice is not VOIP.

Vonage will still use cellular network if wifi is not available. I think Apple will eventually give in just to get the FCC off their backs.

I agree, especially now that AT&T is now allowing the VOIP apps over 3G as of yesterday. Although Apple feels that GV ".... appears to alter the iPhone’s distinctive user experience by replacing the iPhone’s core mobile telephone functionality " So not sure they will ever get over that but we will see

Hmmm...doesn't Vonage & Skype alter the users experience as well?

Apple had to come up with an excuse and let me tell you, that was a very poor one. Apple was lying about the rejection over and over again and then all of a sudden, they come clean and come up with that lame excuse. I'm not seing the FCC buying it.

There seems to be a very big rift growing between Apple and Google and it only appears to be getting bigger. First the GV then Apple buys a mapping company which can only mean they intend to replace google maps on the phone furthering the rift between he two. You know Apple, they have to have control over everything.

Yes, apparently Apple thinks we are too stupid to see the difference between the stock phone app, and an app we physically downloaded our selves.

That makes so much sense, oh right, no it ****ing doesn't.

If you look at the Vonage App closely its only for international calls (which you pay extra for). No local call at this time.

That wasn't their argument. Apple didn't want the user to ruin their experience by using another app to make & receive phone calls. Riiiiight!

Yep they think we're morons. I guess there's the chance that your typical iphone user might not know, but if the user downloaded it in the first place, they probably know what its for and that its different.....
