Hi guys! Maybe you guys can help...

I just purchased and iPhone 3g 8gb. It came today and has software 2.2.1. I was able to locate the jailbreak for this software. Could you advise (if possible) a route to software 3.0 or 3.1 so I can still keep my Jailbreak.

I have read a lot and want to ensure I don't make a mistake and loose my jailbreak opportunity like on my 3gS currently. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Here's a Mac tutorial for 3.0 http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4303

and here's one for 3.1 http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4254

You can read through each of them and then pick your poison ;) Good luck!

So when I use the custom .ispw file for 3.1 it should upgrade my software to that software version and be jailbroken all in one step? (and when I say 1 step I mean the process...I understand there is a series of steps to accomplish a jailbroken phone)

It's been awhile since I did the custom FW thing but that sounds about right.

You're already jailbroke, so you can just Shift-Restore to the custom 3.1
