View Full Version : Running 3.1 and would like to JB

Title pretty much says it all. I have a 32GB White iPhone currently running 3.1 and I would like to Jailbreak. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I know some people were saying that if your on 3.1 you can't jailbreak is this still true? Someone please help!

Correct. You cannot jailbreak UNLESS you have your ECID SHSHs on saurik's server (you would have had to do this in Cydia on 3.0 or 3.0.1 jailbroken) then you can downgrade to 3.0 and use the current PwnageTool to upgrade to the custom 3.1 ipsw.

Haha, thanks. I'm not going to lie, I loved the story as a kid so naturally I'm excited to see the movie!

I too would like to jb and upgrade to 3.1, i currently have ECID on cydia, 3gs 3.0 fm.
But to my understanding PawnAgeTool is for mac users only. Correct me if I am wrong, someone. But it would be nice to have a windows version of a jb sometime.

Yes, it's for Mac only. Essentially it creates a custom 3.1 ipsw for you. We're still waiting for a Windows jailbreak...

...at least from the Dev Team.
There is another "team" working on the same effort, that will work with windows on 3.1 (sn0wbreeze)

AND - GeoHot has his own iron in the fire, quote "May work for every version of software *ever*, based on the prettiness of the exploit."

So we could end up with at least three 3.1 jailbreaks...
