View Full Version : Why go from 3.01 to 3.1 Jailbreak?

Aside from the few apps that require 3.1, why should I upgrade?

My jailbreak is working great on 3.01, and I've heard that battery life is worse on 3.1.

There's really no additional features in 3.1 that are compelling, are there?

What say you?

not much, eh....

For me it was the improved exchange support...that I'll confirm next week and the DropBox app. so I'm JB'd at 3.1

What is improved exchange? Any elaboration?

battery life does SUCK on 3.1 - I have been suffering through it since I accidentally updated weeks ago...

This is what I'm afraid of. I get about 5 hours of usage on my 3GS, and that's with 3 email accounts, 2 on push. I can't go back to 3 1/2 to 4 hours of usage like my 3G was.

My bad...I meant to say that Apple indicates improved exchange server support in the form of calendar events and such.

I'll post my experiences later in the week.

The only real reason for me to want 3.1 is that many new apps, as well as app upgrades. are for 3.1 only...

Emailing full rez videos as well as saving videos emailed to you.... those were the "big" features for me. Also saving a trimmed video as a copy.

That's horrible I have a 32GB 3GS running 3.1 and mine goes like this

6AM - 100% .. 10AM - 86% .. NOON - 80% .. 5PM 60% .. 8-9PM 45% and most times I can go 2 days without even charging and I have 1 email account receiving about 30 emails a day I do lots of texting/mms/camera throughout the day and all is well for me.

Since 3.*.* the battery has been poor to say the least. Thats why apple have started asking members of the public to put a battery diagnostics tool on there phones. To try and ascertain the actual problem.

I've stuck to 3.0.1 I'm not moving until there becomes a real reason for me to update. I don't need anything on 3.1 apart from the saving video's via email (it's more of a want than a need) and maybe the trimming option mentioned by Dave (above).

It's all down to personal preference at the end of the day, if you want to jump ship to 3.1 then go for it. You just have to weigh up your options i.e unlock/jailbreaking in the future etc etc..
