picture messaging please help!

Ok i am trying to update my iphone to send and recieve pics how do i do it? I tried syncing my phone! Nothing no up dates what to do?

If you have already installed update and rebooted the phone...when you open SMS app you should see a small camera icon next to the typing line. Click the camera to bring up picture messaging options.

Look in settings-general-about-carrier and see if you have AT&T 5.5. If you do then do a hard reset and then you should be good to go. To do a hard reset just press and hold the power button and the home button and do not let them go until the phone shuts off and the apple appears on the screen. Then you should be good to go.

If it's not 5.5 then shout back and we'll go from there.

mine is 4.0 why this is a new 3gs?

4.0? What version OS are you running? It is the line right above Carrier.

I think you have to be on 3.1 to get this AT&T update. So you need to do what BrownGem said on the other thread which is:

Plug your phone into your PC and open itunes. Then click on the name of your phone on the left hand side about half way down the screen after it appears. It may take up to 1 minute for itunes to load and for your phone to appear. When it does click on the Summary tab on the left towards the top and then click on Check for updates on the middle right. This will install 3.1 and after that choose to restore from backup and then the carrier update should pop up.

Make sure you sync your phone and then once its done click check for updates. Once you do it will ask you to download and install OS 3.1. Once you are done updating your phone to 3.1 you want to click update again and another alert will come up about a carrier update. Click update and then restart your phone. Once that is done you should be able to see a camera on the left side of the text box.

No problem but after the carrier update he will then probably have to shut off the phone and then restart it. A lot of people have had to do that.
