Connect to iTunes and click check for update - update the phone. Reboot. Done.

Did you click "check for updates?" Once you install the update then reboot.

Reboot the phone as in turn it off and back on.

Dude 2 threads is like overkill!

First verify if you have the update by going to settings-general-about-carrier. If it says 5.5 then you have it but if it say 5.0 then you do not have the update. Then we will know how to help you get going.

The iphone must be plugged in and iTunes open. Click your phone on the left side of the screen and it is on the summary tab.
