I must be a slow learner but today I just noticed that the calendar program will let you choose new events to be home or work and you can view your calendar events by home, work, or all. Did this happen with 3.1?

It looks like it was 3.1 that made that possible. My 3GS is on 3.0.1 and I can't seem to find that function.

It's pretty sweet as it's color coded too. I wish I could add more categories. Maybe soon.

My Calendar does not have any of those functions. I have the 3.1 update also. My info Is all the same color, nothing is color coded.

When I open calendar in whatever view I have a tab in the upper left that says Calendars. When I tap it it lists: All, calendar, home, work and they have different color circles by them for visual identification.

Your lucky I don't have a "calendar" in my upper left hand corner :(

Looks pretty nifty.
Would you mind posting a screen shot showing the calendar in the left corner?

Thanks

Here's another one. So why does no one else seem to have this feature?

I don't have the feature but my mom has it and we both have 16 white 3GS. Both 3.1

Hmm, not sure why. I found this: http://mail2web.com/iphone-calendar/
I'm not 100% up to date on everything, but the image on this page shows the calendar button in the upper left as well. Can it be a MobileMe feature, or the "iPhone Calendar Subscription"(shown on that page)?

Anybody out there have a clue why the majority of folks don't have this? Is there any way Apple could be rolling out little changes? Mods any ideas?

This isn't something that Apple is giving to a few at a time. There is another underlying cause to this. What it is , I don't know.

Today. I have no need for the work calendar though so a useless feature for me. I assumed everyone had it.

OK. I forgot that I have iTunes set up to just sync Home calendars. I switched that to all and synced and now I have it.

Thanx for posting that picture. My Calendar doesn't look like that at all. I even checked in settings to see if I had to set something so it could look like that but there were no options. I've got to call Apple on this one.

Thanks for solving the mystery Don. Was this a 3.1 addition? Does anybody have this with 3.0? Just curious. I've been on 3.1 since it came out and only noticed the calendar change yesterday. Could it have been hooked to iTunes 9.1? Odd.

It depends on how you set up iCal on your Mac. The categories sync over to your phone.

Yeah, I went in to iTunes and set mine to All Calendars. I synced my phone and it still looks the same. I will call Apple when I get a chance. I think this has to do with the fact that it says that it wants to sync with Outlook calendar. I don't want that and don't know how to get that off of there. There is no other selection except for Outlook and that blows.

I'm now determined the get this crap off of my iTunes. I don't want Outlook involved, I don't even use it.

I sync with Google Calendar and Contacts. I have Google Sync set up to sync my personal calendar, a holiday calendar and my wife's Google calendar. I can use the calendar button (shown in the above screenshot) to select which calendar I want to view - or all of them. I noticed that button wasn't there when I was just syncing my calendar.

That's the thing. It isn't going to show up unless you are syncing more that one calendar. With only one, there is no need for it.

I also have this on my phone, 3gs 32gb on fm 3.0. If you have multiple calendars then this is how it gets created. I have google calendar.

If you don't have multiple calendars setup in iCal or Outlook, you won't see it. For example, here's my iCal:

Rick, how would I actually set up my google calendar to sync like you have? Do I have to run it through itunes to do that? Where would I find those options?
Thanks, Karen

It uses Microsoft Exchange and this website shows you how to set it up.

http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=apple

And then this is how you set up which other calendars you want to sync on your iphone:

Hope that helps. I much prefer to use Google calendar over Outlook.
