Annoying iTunes problem

Well basically its to do with the iPhone updates.

Everytime I try and download an update, it gets to say 99% downloaded then gives an error saying it couldnt complete the download.

I have to manually find a link and download it and then hold shift and click Update etc etc. also means I have to wait till the update is put on the internet!

It doesn't look like your phone is connected. Does it do the same thing when the phone is plugged in?

Yeaaah, same with the iPhone being connected.

This screenshot was taken when I tried updating my iPhone to 3.1 and it failed thus sending my phone into restore mode so I disconnected it while it downloaded that restore file in the image but obviously the download failed..

Have you ever had a problem downloading an app or movie in iTunes? Have you tried going into the iTunes folder on you computer and deleting the file and then redownloading it? Are make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes.

On Windows:
Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
On Mac:
~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

Ive never really downloaded anything from iTunes on my computer, apart from a few songs. I downloaded alot of apps fom my iPhone though and transferred them fine to iTunes.

I just looked in the iTunes folder and all I found was
