View Full Version : The MMS Complaints Thread!

Okay, we're just 36 hours away from what 20% of the threads on this board were about.... Getting MMS... the ability to send pictures and videos via messaging...

Once we get it, I'd like to believe that everyone will be happy, and all will be right with the world... the troops will come home, global warming will stop and both Megan Fox and Alicia Keys will be waiting for me at the house in nothing but aprons... with a big pot of gumbo..

but that's not realistic, so I'm designating this as a thread for which people can complain about all that is wrong with MMS, once they get it...

I know, you know, and they know that regardless of what AT&T does, it will be flawed come Friday... and well.. I look forward to your complaints... :ok:ok

What do you think the PRIMARY complaint will be???

Believe it or not, it's going to be FREE!! (or atleast everything I have read says that it will be...

people LOVE complaining about FREE stuff.. :dft010:smiling

It would be pretty low of AT&T to drop a "pricing structure" on the 24th... when MMS goes live on the 25th...

AT&T has to be $hitting their pants nervously waiting for MMS to roll out Friday! I bet the main complaint will be "I can't send an MMS between 4pm and 11pm (peak times)"! Because the servers keep crashing! To all who eventually will complain about something with the iPhone, be glad you do not own a Blackberry Storm! I did, and the difference between the two is night and day!

i'll admit, this thread was sorta obnoxious, and sorta serious at the same time..

because I KNOW there will be a TON of complaints... we're never happy around here... we want everything and nothing at the same time..

thanks guys.. :ok:ok

I'm guessing it'll take 15 hours for a MMS to get delivered to the recipient. :)

I for one will say, that I know there will be users complaining of not being able to send a single MMS. Well, that will be because everyone is overloading AT&Ts servers.

I will choose to ignore these complaints and system errors, because I know MMS will have just launched and things will take time to calm down.

If no one can understand that and still asks questions as to why things don't work, may the good Lord be with you.

Nope, none of that's going to happen. The world will still be at war, humans will continue destroy the Earth as planned, and Megan and Alica won't be coming over for a surprise visit.

We'll move right on to the next big thing to complain about. The only difference will be that we can use an archaic method of sending and receiving images. We still feel a need for it since not enough people upgraded to smart phones in the last two years because our economies crashed due to human greed. :dft012:wink

Right... LOL

It'll be like EVERYONE wants to send MMS at the same time, once they get it.. for no real reason other than to test out the new toy... see if it actually works...

and with ALL of AT&T iPhone customers trying to send MMS messages (both pics and video) at the same time... that bottleneck is going to be disastrous!

I know you don't believe we are contributing to the greenhouse effect, but you can't deny we are depleting its resources, causing topsoil erosion, and that man made CFC's contributed to the partial depletion of the ozone layer.

All I'm saying is that man might destroy his ecosphere, but he won't destroy the planet. The earth has suffered through several large collisions in its ancient past, so anything we do ecology-wise won't permanently hurt it.

Don't get me wrong - again. I'm all for humans taking reasonable care in protecting the environment, but I'm tired of hearing from different groups (who need publicity and money to go on existing) that man is the sole cause of climate change. Earth itself has something to do with it as well.

While that is true, you can't take it so far to lift all of our blame. We do have a part in it. I think most people realize that it can't all be attributed to humans, and it's unfortunate that these groups present it that way. Volcanoes contribute millions of tons of CO2 to the atmosphere every year.

Just because it has been fine, doesn't mean it will continue to be fine. Look at what happened to Venus.

You're missing my point completely.

I'm not absolving people of all blame for our environmental woes. Please show me where I did.

You brought up a very good point about volcanoes. One good eruption can wipe out any good we've done up until now.

Look what happened to Venus. Are you saying that there were people on Venus who caused its current greenhouse state? I'm sure that Venus' closer orbit to the sun had nothing to do with it at all. Venus has survived just fine.

And curse those Martians as well. They had a lot of nerve destroying their water supply and thinning out their atmosphere. It would have been perfect for us if they hadn't ruined things for everybody. I could be drinking gloog and making sleemoff at the foot of Olympus Mons f it hadn't been for those greedy green bastards.

Of course, I'm being a little facetious here, but my point still stands. We can discuss it until the cows come home (and let's not mention their noxious emissions!), but nothing will be settled. We're on two different sides of this issue. :dft010:smiling

I just think you implied that we have no part in it when you said, "no one is destroying the Earth". You later agreed we do have a [small] role in it.

Lol, no I'm not saying people were involved with what happened on Venus. The greenhouse effect got started there and was similar to ours at one point, but then it basically snowballed and a massive greenhouse effect naturally occurred. The CO2 blanket is responsible for temps hot enough to melt steel on its surface. Venus has survived just fine?!? It's one of the most hostile places in the solar system. It's now 900+ degrees and it rains sulfuric acid.

Do you know how cold it gets on Mercury? There are a lot more variables than proximity to the Sun, such as atmospheric contents and how tenuous they are.

Okay. let me try to say this in simpler terms:

The planet earth itself is in no danger from our ecological follies. The planet will be fine. Man's ecosystem might be damaged or destroyed, but the planet will continue to tippy-shay its merry way around the sun as it always has in its lifetime. I'm making a distinction between the planet and our ecosystem.

The origin of Venus' greenhouse atmosphere is a theory - not proven. Venereal disease? Now that's proven.

And, yes, I know about Mercury. You're not the only amateur astronomer to ever grace EiC. I'm sending Mizar and Alcor over to beat you up. :dft010:smiling

MMS has been working for me for over a week(not hacked). It works well sending and receiving between at&t phones, but has been very intermittent to/from phones on other networks. I hope these issues are cleared up by the time the official release is made. At&t has had enough time to prepare, I would love to think they will get it right the first time, but still have my doubts.

It seems AT&T may be having seconds thoughts about offering MMS to iPhone customers, if the reports filtering out of DSLReports are any indication.

According to the article, “AT&T is extremely nervous about the impending launch of MMS for the iPhone scheduled for this Friday”.

It seems early testing of the MMS features has put a strain on the network, and they’ve had to shore up things beyond what they anticipated, which isn’t good to hear even before the feature launches to millions of iPhone users. They report telling sources “they are seeing record traffic just in the testing phase of the MMS launch”.

Some sources have said that iPhone MMS could push AT&T traffic on their network up by as much as 40% as it launches initially, and they fear it could cause outages or poor performance.

Oh yes... TOMORROW will be Beautiful...

The wildest thing that happend when I used MMS this past Friday, October 2nd was I sent a few pics through MMS and my recipient only received one of the pictures while on my side the pictures were there. The same day I sent a video and they didn't receive that at all. It was on my side shown as sent so I expected them to get it. It only happened on Friday nothing strange so far. I sent my family members some pictures thru mms. They showed up on their phone as being from a completely different number than mine. Different area code and everything. Then tonight my sister sent me a picture from her phone and it showed up on my phone as coming from an international number. Anyone else experiencing this?

Happened to me today. I received an MMS from some # I don't even recognize.
