Anyone else getting a text from AT&T

...stating that MMS will be available on the 25th and the current "view my messages" experience will be down? I have not gotten one yet but my friends have and we are all in Chicago. Wonder what is going on and what "view my messages" is.

Count your lucky stars. :D When someone sends an MMS to your iPhone now, you get a text asking you to go to viewmymessage.com and enter convoluted codes in order to view the MMS on the web. Quite a pain and I will be very happy to see this go away.

I've heard about it but I never have gotten that message. I've had people send me messages too but I don't get anything at all. Oh well.

I can't tell you how many times I told family members in the last 2 years that I don't have MMS, email pictures to me, and they still sent them MMS. I am just barely starting to train them and now I have to untrain them. Craptacular!

all my friends with cheap free phones have picture messaging and they are all like ooo you have the iphone but mines better cause i can actually send and receive picture messages. they send em to me on purpose just to tease me. im so glad the madness of no mms will stop

Did you defend the iPhone, lol? When someone says that, I can't resist letting them know all the cool things I can do with the iPhone, such as viewing my webcam with motion sensing push email notification, controlling my MacBook and accessing its files from anywhere in the world, spoofing any phone number I want, getting turn by turn GPS directions, uploading pictures and video directly to photobucket and youtube, tethering my phone and using its 3G connection on my laptop, the capability to point it at the sky and have it show me what planets or constellations (and their specs) I'm looking at with the use of the GPS, the accelerometer, and the compass, as well as sending pictures with an amazing new invention called email.

I'd also let them know the only reason we need MMS is so we can send and receive pictures from people with dumb phones :dft011:wicked_smile

That is really all that needs to be said! LOL it's astounding that people will dis a phone for not doing MMS, yet will bug the crap out of you to use it to check their FB or email or play one of the many games you have installed. ( I don't let anyone use my phone.)

Ummmm, what app is this because that sounds awesome!! Although I don't have the 3GS, just the 3G so it probably won't work without the compass. :dft006:unhappy

There are a few of them. It needs the compass. I use Starmap.

This stargazing talk reminds me of the time, back in the 80s, when I was in the London Planetarium with a friend of mine. I had seen this particular show before, but my buddy hadn't.

Well, some time into the show, I'm awakened by my buddy's elbow...

It reminds me of something embarrassing too. About 10 years ago, I was in the Carls Jr. drive up line with my sister, waiting at the window for some artery clogging fast food, and I started telling my sis about the synchronous rotation of the Earth. I was explaining how we always see the same side of the moon, even though it turns on its axis, because its rotational period is exactly equal to the orbital period. She wasn't visualizing what I meant, and it's really easy to show someone how it works by using a coin to symbolize the moon, drawing a circle on a piece of paper to symbolize the Earth, and then rotating the coin as you revolve it around the Earth.

So anyway, we are at the Carls Jr. window and I saw, "I can show you what I mean as soon as we get home", and immediatly took off. She was like, "wait...our food!". I had to go back through the line and tell them I paid and left without my food. Embarrasing.

Just got new carrier settings via iTunes. I never received a txt. Had to reboot the phone for the MMS to show up. 1:09 pm.
