I'm pretty sure that I need to uninstall iTunes 9 and try to reinstall it. Since the upgrade I have not been able to connect to the store. Have turned off Norton, restarted my computer at least 15 times, checked my internet connection and still no deal.
Question is: If I uninstall iTunes will my music, apps etc all reappear when I reinstall and log into my account? Do I need to do anything first?

Your library should remain intact, but it is always prudent to make a backup before doing serious (un)installations.

Thanks much :)
By backup, you mean on an external device???

Ideally, yes. But even copying it to another location on the same drive is better than nothing.

Ok, thank you :ok:ok. Will figure out how and where to send the library, not very computer literate, so it could take me a week lol.

Even if you could just copy the iTunes folder in your "my music" to your desktop, that would be beneficial if something went horribly wrong with iTunes. If that were to happen, then you could just copy the old one back.

Make sure you install iTunes 9 aswell not a lower version like the last version as the older version won't be able to open your libary and will tell you that your libary was made in a newer version of iTunes than the one installed.

Well shiznit :dft007:angry I removed iTunes after saving everything to the desktop and restarted my computer. Then installed Itunes 9 again and still can not connect to the store, I get the message saying I'm not connected to the internet.
Not sure what else I can or should do. :dft004:tears

Try iTunes in safe mode. Turn your computer off, then back on. As soon as you turn it back on, start tapping F8 until it lets you choose "safe mode with networking". Wait for windows to load, thrn launch iTunes... It'll give you some funny error messages at first, but it should still connect to the iTunes store.
If it works, I'd say it's likely that some other program is screwing with the connection in normal mode. If it doesn't work, it's some inherent problem with your windows or iTunes installation.

Yes, please do, if you know of any. I couldn't find anything similar with a Google search.

So glad you both enjoyed it :) Sadly, I do not have any more like that. I found that one on another forum a few years ago and had saved it, then found it again when going through stuff one day. If I ever do come across more I'll share them :ok:ok

I did the Safe Mode (wow does that ever make thing look odd lol) and got the following messages when opening iTunes:

After that I was able to get into the store. I didn't do anything else in safe mode and restarted my computer to get it all back to normal. After the restart it was the same, could not connect to the store again. I did go in a check the "Bonjour" settings after that and it is on 'Start".
When I updated iTunes I also updated QuickTime, all from apple.com. Is it possible that QuickTime has something to do it the issues.

No, i think there is other software on your computer running that is messing with iTunes accessing the Internet. It's probably Norton, but definitely could be something else. Do you have other security software besides norton?

I turned the firewall settings off. Removed Norton and lost all Internet connection on my computer. My wireless is still working just fine as I am on my phone right now with the wifi on. I tried to run a cable from the wireless router directly to the computer and still can't connect to the Internet.
I'm going to have to seriously consider switching to a Mac, this PC stuff is wearing me out. This is not the first time I've gone through issues, and being ignorant about troubleshooting does not make it a good idea to try fix things.
I thank you so very much for all your help, just wish I knew what I was doing lol.

ouch. does internet still work in safe mode?
If so, try running the Norton Removal Tool (http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039). The standard Norton uninstaller does a pretty crappy job.

No, Internet does not work in safe mode. I did use the norton removal tool to uninstall norton. I will the computer to a repair shop this week, I'm afraid I could do more damage than good if I continue to try fix it. On a good note, my husband has agreed to save up and get a mac :)
