Why me? I always have some sort of problem with iTunes and NEVER the phone itself.

Does anyone else have the problem of syncing their iPhone, only to get an error in iTunes stating the device cannot be synced? Then, when you disconnect and reconnect, it asks you to setup your phone as a new device or restore from backup?

I really don't want to format my phone again. If I do, I might as well JB.

Is there a way around this, or can anyone suggest what causes it?

I (as well as some other forum members) have experienced weirdness like this in the past, and have narrowed it down to USB. Are you using anything other than the stock apple USB cable->computer? any other USB devices connected to your computer at the same time?

Nah, just the regular USB cable that came with the phone and no other devices are connected.

This happens in the car too when I connect my device to the USB port. Sometimes, just by touching the phone, it will either reboot or stop playing music while the interface reloads. I've even checked the cord and jiggled it but I've ruled that out.

Am I screwed at this point? MUST I set my phone up again?

It could be the dock connection on the phone itself... or even something completely different.
