So the unthinkable happened. I spilled liquid all over my MacBook and it instantly shut off!!! Like in a blink of an eye.. I immediately got it unplugged and took out battery.

Well now after almost a week.. My baby still doesnt turn on took it to Apple and it will now cost $755 to fix and not a guarantee that I will get all my stuff back.

So Im wondering, what are my options as into getting my stuff transfered over to a new one. I talked to a genuis and he said 2.5" Sata enclosure vantec. Told me to take the hard drive out and put it in there connect it to new computer and transfer everything over.

Is this possible?

Any other options??!! I just want all my music, photos and my DJ software back!! :(

What he is saying is pretty much the only way this will work. But as stated in your post, there maybe more issues to contend with... the water damage may have wrecked everything.

Your HD is where all your important information resides... if you have any friends that have a mac then try your HD in there's. If it works, boot the laptop up and put it in 'Target Disk Mode' then copy all your information onto something else i.e a new replacement.

Do you have home insurance etc? - if so, I'd be on the phone right now, getting a new one!

Speak to your parents and ask them if there willing to make a claim on your house insurance. After all, it was an accident, so therefore your claim is legit as you wouldn't pour a fluid onto any form of electrical equipment.

It's worth a shot. I did it to my PS3 when I first bought it, I was playing Call of duty online and I booted a can of coke at it by accident. Rang my insurance company and I had a new one about 3 weeks later.

This is what insurance is for my friend, you pay for months upon months so you might as well claim. Your going to laugh, but I spilt a full can of beer onto my laptop. It immediately shut off (I think it's a safety feature to protect it or something). I ripped the battery out, literally. I left it off for three days inside a cupboard where my boiler is, to my absolute amazement it was fine.

**** happens lol. You'll be fine, just make sure your mam and dad emphasize the fact that this was an accident.
