When I had my old phone, I remember there being rumors/facts that buying a non-same brand car charger (example, if I had a Motorola RAZR buying a non-Motorola car charger) would be bad for and could ruin the battery.

I guess my first question is: Was that true?

My second question is: I desperately need a car charger for my iPhone. Do I have to get an Apple one? Do they even make one? I saw the Belkin - is that the one I should get? Or can I get a cheap-o variety and not have to worry about the battery burning out/being ruined?

Thanks!!!

I use a Griffin RoadTrip. It's an FM transmitter and charger for the iPhone. Works with iPod too.
