standard laptop drives run at 5400RPM and 7200RPM for desktops.
SSDs (solid state drives) have no moving parts like a standard drive.
a standard drive uses spinning disks to read/write the data. a solid state drive is stored on flash memory and would be the equivalent of a drive running about about 15000-20000RPMs, which is 2-3 times a normal drives speed so imagine the performance!
