I plan to trade up my iPhone in November. Will any new iPhones include the new FM tuner with Live Pause?

iPhone next year probably will follow suit. As of today the 3Gs doesn't have it. Will most likely need the hardware to support it.

Thanks so much. I suppose I will be purchasing a model too soon for that feature.

Thanks, but it seems as though Apple will wait till AFTER I upgrade––as usual!

I miss one talk radio program. Don't need radio for music.

It is possible that the nano could be an FM transmitter with a software update
"The chip also supports FM transmission, meaning that software support down the line could allow users to stream music directly to car stereos without any extra hardware—although that possibility seems pretty remote."

JWiPhone covers it here. It looks like it may be in the works already:

I accept with information: The chip also supports FM transmission, meaning that software support down the line could allow users to stream music directly to car stereos without any extra hardware although that possibility seems pretty remote.

If the hardware supports it, it shouldn't be long before someone puts the software in the Cydia store.
