Hi everyone.
I've been a member for a couple of months now, but I finally bought a 32gb 3G S iPhone this afternoon, so I've joined the crowd.
I've been using Apple products for over 20 years now (a IIe, several Desktops, a MacBook Pro, & 3 iPods over the years), so I'm familiar with their products, but not the iPhone, so I've got some learning to do.
I had been using a Palm T|X for several years as a PDA, but it quit on me during a vacation trip to WY & CO in early July.
I was used to using the PDA while on trips to record notes, expenses, etc. I'm goning on another trip next month, probably to Europe & was looking for a replacement.
One quick question, if possible. Can the GPS function of the iPhone work solely off of the GPS Satellites, or does it require data off of the cell phone networks also? In other words, if I have the Data Roaming feature turned off while traveling in Europe (to avoid roaming charges), will the GPS function of the iPhone still work?
