Okay so my buddy just bought a new 3G S and hes trying to sell his 3G. He told me it has a scratch on the back of the phone and a microscopic scratch on the front of the bezel part of the phone. He told me he would sell it to me for around 150-175 I was thinking of just buying it for a quick investment maybe swapping out the back for a new piece and shining it up to look good and jailbreak/unlock it. How much could it be sold for then ?

I have a ballpark of whats it worth but what would be fair/profitable ?

Yeah, a fully functional, jailbroken and good condition iPhone should definitely get you around $350 plus. I've seen iPhones with cracked LCD screens go for around $200. You shouldn't have any problem; however, having it jailbroken will definitely increase your resell value.

In Denmark they go for $400+ for the 3G 16GB version with scratches on the back..

I sold my iPhone 3G 16GB with a chip in the corner of the screen on eBay for £260

Which is about $420

I would check eBay and see what they tend to be selling for... That's generally what I do for a quick value check, albeit somewhat unreliable...

AFAIK, Rick (up10ad) holds the current highest 3G sale price record here @ $420. Sounds like RossMC is tied with him.

Sold my 16GB 3G about a week to 2 weeks ago for $350 (it was not jailbroken). If you ebay it, one thing that will help is try to keep your listing at the top. There's so many phones right now that yours won't reach page 1 until there's 5 minutes left.

Jailbreaking will definitely fetch more.

Not necessarily. up10ad's was stock and he got $420.

oki guys i have one for sale brand new used for week, right before 3gs came out, i lost mine and i purchased mine for 600 + where can i sell it? now even one scratch original packing brand new let me know guys can jailbreak and unlock for europe shipment
