While talking on the iphone, whenever my earring hits a key the person at the other end hears beeps and this can be very irritating. Is there a way to desensitize the keypad (other than not wearing earrings) so that I do not irritate the person at the other end?

If you're in "keypad" mode, you can chose hide keypad and it will prevent your earring from hitting the numbers and sending out the digital number tone.

Shouldn't the proximity sensors turn the screen off when you are talking on the phone?

Exactly... the sensor should automatically desensitise your screen when you bring it near your ear.

How exactly do you hold your iPhone when you're on a call?

Yeah, I'd like to know this as well. Maybe they're holding the iPhone upside down?

Or the proximity sensors are faulty.
