Is this it? I had one, and it was pretty good, though a bit bulky:

As far as dual purpose (battery built into a case), you can't go wrong with Mophie. They have excellent customer service and will replace your unit with a new one if you encounter problems even after a year. If you want something really inexpensive, go on eBay and for less than ten bucks get a battery extender that merely attaches to the bottom of the phone. I bought a 1900 mA battery and it fully charges the battery when it has about 10% remaining AND afterwards it still has some juice left for further charging.

One word of advice. DO NOT PURCHASE THE RICHARD SOLO BATTERY. I was sent one for evaluation and it is long and unwieldy making the phone nearly impossible to use while it is connected. It is overpriced too!!! $70 for less amperage than the one I paid $7.00 for on eBay. RICHARD SOLO is a reincarnation of Sharper Image. Those are the folks that brought us overpriced worthless gadgets from China that fell apart after three months.

I used a mophie for a long weekend trip where i knew i would not be able to charge my iphone for a while. I'd say it worked as advertised - roughly doubled the battery life.

As a case, i'd say it was average. Decent protection, but some parts of the bezel were showing through, and there are two large gaps in the case over the speaker and mic where dust and debris could collect.

As djwindsor said, if you don't really need it built-into a case, i'd just get a separate battery charger - you get much more charge per dollar that way.

Nappy, you said that you "HAD" one. What happened to it? Would you get another?

Through no fault of its own, I wrecked it. I put a Griffin cable in it to charge it. When I removed the cable, it ripped the guts out of the charger...
