picked up an extra monitor and 2x2TB hard drives.
still hasn't shipped out yet, though. I'm hoping that means Snow Leopard will come pre-installed. In any case, it should be here next week.

Now you just need a real keyboard. That thing looks like a toy!

If the mac comes with a board with a numPad, I may use it... if only to have a proper delete key. But being wireless is also nice...

Yeah, the dual monitors really do dwarf that keyboard, but so do the iMac's. I'd pay a little extra to upgrade it to the 10 key and use a Logitech instead of a Mighty Mouse. What's that on the floor under the desk, recording equipment?

Pedal board for guitar FX.
Speaking of which, your speakers aren't staying there, are they Hips?

Yeah. That speaker on the right is part of my 5.1 surround sound for my TV. I've always just used headphones with my computers.

Looks good. I think you need a bigger desk.
Which Mac Pro are you getting? Any plans to pack it with RAM.

2x2.26GHz xeons
6GB RAM
geforce gt120
640 GB hdd
the standard configuration for the dual-quad model. Then I'm gonna throw those two 2TB drives in for my iTunes library and a backup. Eventually I will probably upgrade the RAM and videocard, but I think I'll be content for a while.

I'm guessing you'll be set for quite some time. What machine is this replacing? Is this replacing your MacBook Pro?

I don't wanna show a wide-angle right now due to my room's condition, but it is awesome. I'm restoring from my MBP's time machine backup now.

Once it's done transferring, I'm going to try to take the bluray drive from my external enclosure and install it in the expansion slot... Hopefully it's a standard size...

well, it's awesome. While transferring data from two external USB hard drives, AND doing a time machine backup, handbrake was encoding video at an average of 55fps, which is roughly twice as fast as my macbook would do it with no other processes running.
and i haven't even been able to install Snow Leopard yet.

Enjoy all the goodness that comes in that box.:ok:ok
I'm thinking about an Intel SSD for my boot drive. Seems New Egg cannot keep them in stock long enough for me to order one.:dft007:angry

i had been considering that as well. SLC or MLC?

I believe it's MLC. It's this Intel drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167005). It was $249 last week, but I missed the boat at that price.
I had the original MacBook Air and it was sluggish to me. I ended up getting a refurb with the SSD and it made all the difference in the world. I'm thinking my Mac Pro would be a beast with an SSD for the start up disk. I have to plan out how I'd use those precious 80GB.

I'll have to get a pic of the inside of this thing.

Are SSDs really that much faster than standard issue hard drives? I know that they should be, but the real-world reviews I've read vary as to the real difference.

Picked up that Intel SSD. Still in the box and I need to figure out how I'm going to manage that 80GB. Not sure if I want to give up any of it for a Boot Camp partition.

sweet. where are you gonna put it? in one of the standard bays, or in the open optical bay?
like you, i would also want to have windows installed on one, but i don't really wanna drop the dough on two SSDs... so maybe i'll just wait til next year when they will have more memory.

Not sure. It came with a bracket, so probably the standard bays. Might have to unseat a hard drive.
