AOL Communicator for the iTouch

Does anyone remember the AOL Communicator? The one that was a strip down version of the old school blackberry text pager. You could access wirelessly anywhere with your email and AOL IMs. Couldnt Apple connect your iChat and mobile me account and put a radio signal in the iTouch so that you could always have access with the iTouch? AOL charges $30 a month and it was a great service until they discontinued it.

So no one has any ideas if this is possible? Does anyone even remember the AOL Communicator?

I remember what youre talking about. I think they were out when I was in highschool like 10 years ago. I think its semi possible as long as youre on wireless you just need wifi. I think if someone would want that though instead of getting an iTouch they would just get an iPhone.
