I debated where to put this post since the content relates to an app that is available in the App Store, but I also intend to include some comments that could be considered more appropriate in the Off Topic area. I settled on this area because the main focus of my discussion will be making use of the application.
I've been using the application Visible Vote Mobile (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=313840205&mt=8) since its release and I have found it to be a great way to keep actively involved with the issues of the day. Regardless of your political views, your elected representatives need to hear from you on the important decisions they are facing as our country faces the challenges of the 21st century.
Let me tell you what I find are the best features of the program, and why I felt compelled to ask you all to take a look at it and use it regularly to communicate with your elected officials.
It presents a summary of each bill coming before your Legislators and allows you to record how your would vote on the issue.
It sends an overview letter every week to your legislators on how YOU and others in his/her district are voting.
It tracks how your legislators are voting on issues you care about by showing how they voted and how often they agree with your vote.
It allows you to easily send a letter to one or all of your Legislators through your iPhone.
This last feature is the most important one to me. I suspect that many of you are a bit like me in that you may develop an opinion about an issue but it is just a bit too cumbersome to look up your Legislator's email address and drop a note. Visible Vote streamlines the process. Give it your zip code and it automatically sets up your 2 Senators and your House Rep. You can send an email to our President and all three with just a few clicks.
Our elected officials need to know how you feel. Tell them they are doing a good job, or tell them what they can do better. It doesn't matter if you are for or against any issue. Write and TELL THEM!
