Ladies + Gents,

View my pic and tell me what the hell is going on.

I've been sat at this screen for 40mins. I've re put my phone in DFU mode about 6 times.

Waiting for reboot.....

Are you sure you used the right IPSW? (3.0.0 (3G): iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw (http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-6578.20090617.VfgtU/iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw))
Have you tried a new USB cable?

Have you tried unplugging and plugging back in your USB cable real quick?

Smart ass. I've seen a couple of posts in which this actually worked, or at least the poster thought it worked.

same thing happened to mine.. i just unplugged the phone and went through the redsnow proccess again... and did the part where you hold down power and home more accurate ... i guess i rushed it the first time and had me on that screen forever. now it works fine.

Tried all those things. I'm truly stumped.

I am choosing the correct .ipsw file as well, 3.0 not 3.0.1

I'll continue trying and i'll check back here if anyone else has any ideas.

The next step would be to try using a different computer.

Which version of redsn0w are you using?

I'm using the latest- redsn0w 0.8

I've tried a variety of different USB leads. I haven't tried a different computer- I don't see why my computer would be the problem, I've jailbroken many phones on my mac before with zero problems.

I'm going to have to explore different types of jailbreak.

What does it display on your phone when you are on this screen?

I'm assuming you mean when redsn0w is 'waiting for reboot'.....

Well it's black (as in the screen)- As it's in DFU mode.

It's still the same. I'm really confused with this one.

How to you put it in recovery mode? Did you just hold the home button with the usb cable unplugged and then kept hold of the home button while plugging it into the computer till the iTunes logo appeared?

Or did you do it by holding the power button and home button then releasing the power button and keeping hold of the home button.

Don't know if this would make a diffrence or not

I have it plugged in by USB to my mac.

I then hold power and home button for 10 seconds.
Release the power button and continue holding the home button.

You will then get a prompt from iTunes stating your phone needs to be restored etc.

I am most certainly putting my phone in DFU mode correctly.

I might be on to something. I'll post shortly.

It tells you in redsn0w to unplug it from the computer hold the home button down while plugging it into the computer till the iTunes logo apears then release the home button

Try it that way because recovery mode is diffrent to DFU mode.

Kevin, you are right again. Wisdom at it's best.

I thought I'll see if I can unplug and plug back in really quick.

My screen went white when I unplugged and then when I plugged back in.... well all i can say is service resumed :dft011:wicked_smile

Thanks again.

I couldn't believe it. I literally pulled it out and rammed it back in again really fast and it redsn0w kicked into life.

I'm now successfully jailbroken on 3.0.1

Yes, and I would like to officially apologize for my stupid comment.
You are a Genius and now I have one more trick to throw in my jailbreaking issues bag :)

You comment wasn't stupid, Europa - it was merely ignorant of my copious research into all things iPhone! :ok:ok

You have infinite iPhone hacking wisdom and I do beg for your forgiveness and hope to learn even more as your humble apprentice.

Oh, please.

Why do you think I do research? Because there's still so much I don't know!

For instance, why does the Pandora keyboard auto-delete search text sometimes?
