I use IM+
It's very good, it's a little pricey but it's worth it in my eyes.
You don't just get MSN accounts, you can even add;
skype
AOL
twitter
facebook
Yahoo
google talk
Jabber
ICQ
Myspace
So as you can see you've got a lot to play with there. It's a good all rounder.

Well IM+ saves your conversations.
I'm sure you can use the native Copy+Paste on the iphone to paste any conversations into an email...
It seems stable enough to me. I'm not going to deny, when I first updated my firmware to 3.0 i suffered a few crashes but now it's stable.

I've used BeeJive for years and love it.

Beejive- the best.
BeeJive is also a very good app. I never took to it personally, i've only used it a few times, perhaps i'll give it another go. :ok:ok

I prefer IM+ also. Have Beejive and hated it. IM+ seems so stable. I'm waiting to see if/when Meebo comes out, I liked the Meebo web app a lot.
I've been using Fring and the only complaint I have is that I can only use one of my Yahoo IM accounts. Not a big deal. I also have my ICQ, AIM, Skype, MSN, and Google accounts on there as well.

Don't hold your breath on Meebo. It might take them a long time to release their app. I was reading some info about the release date on their app and one of the developers said they're still working on a release but have no clue when it will be ready.
Check this link (http://forum.meebo.com/viewtopic.php?t=35631&f=1); third response down.

Going to have to throw my 2 cents in for BeeJive as well. I've had it since it came out on the iPhone and have loved it. I've used IM+ and there are a few things I do like, twitter integration and the graphic interface. BeeJive has just been the most stable I've used. Very Happy

is their a freebie version of either so I can get a feel for them rather that spending money only to discover it's not what I want?

Check the appstore, there are loads of different things on there you could look at.
Palringo is free, I used it for a short while. It's a lot better than it used to be.

It's totally safe. I've never had any problems with making an account with them.
If needs be, set your account to 'your' spam email address and forget about it.

no worries, which of those three would be most reccomended or is it just personal choice?

In reference to 'free' apps or for 'paid' apps?
If paid- then i'd hit IM+ straight down the middle.
If free- then i'd Palringo.
^ the free instant messenger apps you may as well experiment with, you may find they suite your needs.

Palringo kicks beejive in the ass. They are virtually the same program except one is a rip off. I've never had problems with Palringo.

Isn't there a free version of IM+? I could have swore there was a lite version...unless I'm trippin'.
I was a big fan of BeeJive... keyword: was.
Now I'm all for IM+... this app is more stable than BeeJiveIM. The only con to BeeJive is that it loads slower.
With the addition to Twitter Push, it's definitely making a push for the top where BeeJive once stood.
P.S. I only paid $5 for IM+. It may still be on sale. If you ask me, if it still is, it's permanent sale.

If Pidgin ever came out with an application for the App Store that would be awesome, I love that client. With that said, I don't message enough on the iPhone to purchase any clients; therefore, I've personally given up on IM clients for the iPhone...

IM+ is best in my eyes. I used Beejive too but did not feel comfort. In fact IM+ is more stable, smooth and supports variety of account.

I used IM+ on my Palm years ago but never really liked it. I'll try the lite version for iPhone and see how things go.

Yes there is. I tried the Lite and I think that is the reason I didn't give the paid version a try. I'm so glad someone recommended the paid version to me. I like it more than the Lite version for the additional features.

After reading reviews of the lite version I think I'll pass. Supposedly it sends spam advertisements to friends during chat. Nice. I'll stick with beejive.

1+ Beejive IM. I love it..
I experienced too much disappointment with IM+ when I used it with Palm, Symbian and Winmo OS.. I guess it won't be better of too much now and I really don't want to waste another 5 bucks for it.

"Supposedly" is the key word... haven't had that issue. Maybe it's the free version?

Yes, I mentioned it was the lite version that does this.

I think there are more satisfied customers with Beejive than IM+ if you read the App store reviews.
iphonewarrior

well if the app store was a part of EIC then I think there would be small arguments.
People on here seem to think IM+ is good enough. But... and there's always a but, beejive is a good alternative.
End of the day, its the OP's choice what he/she wants to do. All I can say is, pick whichever you want and let us know how you get on.
