I'm looking for a good mount for my civic(2006). As the windshield slants so much I'm kind of nervous if a suction cup mount would stay on there.
Not to mention, I bought this car brand new, and it is my first car and I cherish it more than my own genitals so I'm not sure how I feel about sticking sticky stuff to the dash, but I might go that route because I want a mount that makes the GPS more usefull so one of those lighter/cupholder mounts just won't cut it.
Please don't tell me to look at the other windshield mount topics because none of them have dealt with the specific slant of a windshield like this.
Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend a ProClip mount - looks like they have a few options for your vehicle here.
They're a bit pricey as it's a 2-part solution: 1 vehicle mount and then a device-specific holder that attaches to the mount. But, they're sturdy and require no drilling or other modification of your dash to mount. I love my ProClip and have only needed to buy new device holders over the years to accommodate the new cell phones I've gotten since I first bought the vehicle-specific mount. Here are a couple of pictures of it in my car (with an old Treo 680 that I despised):

I'm pretty sure that the price of ~$60 or more for a mount for my car is absurd. I'm feeling this recession and I work 90 hours a week and I can't afford that.

Scraggles, this sign hung in my cleaners for a number of years.
"If you want nice fresh clean oats be prepared to pay a fair price, however if you can be satisfied with oats that have been through the horse once well than..." :dft010:smiling ProClip is an excellent mount and worth the price.
When I was a young man and had to keep my car running by doing my own repairs I bought Craftsman tool. They cost a little more but never broke down on you and you seldom busted a knuckle. One time I bought a cheaper tool since I was barely making it financially. It broke and I had to buy a replacement, a Craftsman to finish the job. Back to if you want nice fresh clean oats.
.. and to you Macgirl thanks for always being ready to help. :ok:ok

I'd rather just keep the phone in my lap. There are plenty of good 15$ mounts out there that I haven't seen complaints on, I'm just looking for the best suited one for my car. I do appreciate the help though macgirl, proclip just isn't for me. First, I want it located in my field of view without having to turn my head(understadably). 2nd, they have 2 vent mounts available. One that mounts to the vent just to the right of the steering wheel. The steering wheel already obstructs the view of that vent. The other vent mount is for the vent to the left of the steering wheel, which I can shut airflow off to, to keep my phone from getting blistering hot, or too cold to build up condensation, however, then I have to trail wires from the center console across my lap, and then to the phone. I hope you guys can understand why I didn't request these in the first place. The dashboard would be one of the best places to mount it, but I haven't found one yet. I've seen some of the 'friction held' things that look as big as mousepads. I can't fit that on my dash as the contours of the dash make it impossible.

let's see a 60 dollar clip for a 600 dollar phone for a 12000 dollar car..
Like anything if you REALLY love your car you get the best for it and it will last you a long time.
If not your end up spending more in the end..

You're still extremely far off the mark as I bought it in 2005 brand new, so I payed 24,000$ and that was cheap for that car then.
Even now, it's still in mint condition, and it's value far outweighs current KBB prices to me. I'm not planning on selling it so I wouldn't care if it was worth 7$ or 70,000$
Either way, the value of the car doesn't matter, in fact, the value of the phone doesn't matter. I was simply looking for a suitable way to mount it in my car. I'm guessing for a REASONABLE price that just isn't going to happen.

Keep in mind intial out lay versus continual use. It modular so if you change cars or phones you only need to replace one part. Also keep in mind you can set it up to hold multiple units. I have one that holds a Tomtom and my iPhone 3GS off of one mount originally in a ford fusion and now in a ford escape.

Never have been impressed with the proclip mounts. They dont offer a good solution for many cars. I'm not gonna clip it to my air vents so I cant use my AC properly.:dft011:wicked_smile
I also have the new model civic and there really isn't much of anything that mounts well with it, and I've tried alot. I just rest it on the center area which is a flat surface when you close the cup area.

As holland_patrick showed, a mounting bracket blocking an air vent isn't always the case. I just happened to choose that one for my car since the other option didn't put it within easy reach or at the height I wanted. This is the other mounting option for my car:

When I was looking for a car mount, the Proclip ones attracted me the most since they don't rely on double-sided tape or require any modification to your car's dashboard. Each mount is customized for a specific vehicle and simply pops into existing seams in the dashboard without scratching, and they can be removed without leaving any evidence behind. The mount fits securely and has never budged, even during track sessions and auto-crossing in my car (though I never leave my phone in it during these, of course).

The center one blocks the vents.
Still this is better than option they provided for my previous cars. The top would be the only one I'd consider. Still not too confident it would be ideal because I had a mount in almost exactly the same place and I had to reach a bit to touch the screen. I like keeping my seat back kinda far.
