I can jailbreak using redsn0w just fine! No problems there. The issue is when I install winterboard.
It says it will reboot my device, I see the apple and then it all goes black. What the heck is wrong??? This is the second time i've had to restore and and re-jailbreak!

3.0.1 and I jailbroke with redsn0w so it used 3.0
Try downloading the IPSW and redsn0w from a different source. One of the files could be corrupt.

I've tried restoring from 3 different IPSWs and 3 different computers, and no luck. Winterboard always makes my iphone go straight to a black screen after the apple boot logo.
Anyone have a fix?

When you have installed winterboard and cydia tells you that you have to reboot the device instead of pressing the screen to reboot the device press the home button and exit out of cydia then shutdown your phone the normal way using the sleep/wake button then turn the phone back on and winterboard will be installed and wont crash your phone.
