jailbreaking phone question..

hello. well i did all the reading on jailbreaking the iphone.. i have done it before a loooong time ago and now im doing it on my 3g. i have gotten to the whole process however on my phone screen it says " downloading jailbreak data" how long does that take before the phone is done? i dont remember it taking so long and its been about 5 minutes maybe more now. would i have to go thru the whole proccess again ? would i have to restore it thru itunes and start over? or is this normal time and just let it run? the little time circle thing is still roating like its still downloading.. so i know its not forzen.. just not sure what to do now.

ok.. now it stopped and it shows the plug and an arrow pointing to itunes to be plugged it.... what do i do now? omg i hope nothing is wrong now. i tried turning the phone off and on but still shows the same thing..

Put it in DFU mode and restore to 3.0.1, then download the 3.0 IPSW for the 3G and save it to your desktop, then jailbreak with redsn0w.
