Here's my friends problem,

He's got an iphone 3G on the way. What he wants to know is that when he receives the phone and I jailbreak and unlock the device, what will he lose compared to the native o2 user.

As in:

Will he lose Visual Voicemail (i'm guessing probably)
Will he lose Internet (i'm also probably guessing so)
Will he lose MMS
Will he lose Email

I've done a little research and i've got nothing but mixed results. If anyone can help then I welcome it. If the phone functions well with the T-Mobile sim then it's going to be kept. If it isn't then it's going to be up for sale :ok:ok

Thanks in advance.

(P.S I would just check the above by putting his SIM in my unlocked phone, but unfortunately I'm nowhere near him)

I'm on T-Mobile in the UK.

All I'm missing is the visual voice mail. Everything else works fine, including MMS.

Do you get full 3G internet as you would on o2?

How did you get your settings..? or was it as simple as putting the SIM in the phone and it downloading them itself...?

Yes, everything is just as with O2, apart from the visual voicemail.

Cellular Data:
APN general.t-mobile.uk
Username user
Password wap

MMS
APN general.t-mobile.co.uk
Username user
Password pass
MMSC http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
MMS proxy 149.254.201.135:8080

You'll need to make sure T-Mobile have enabled MMS and Data on the account.

It works for me. I have found that MMS will only work with a 3G connection, not Edge. And make sure MMS is enabled. It took me 2 calls to Customer Service before they got it right. All along I thought it was the settings.
