it's been a long flight to Cairo and, after having checked into the Mena House Oberoi hotel, we're looking to find some local food and attraction.

what should we eat?
where should we go?

we're here for a full week, so let's take it easy today.

Jack (Honda) didn't pack cool clothes, so we'll need to get him something appropriate, something stylish.

1) Egyptian food like Koshary, Egga, Kaware', Mahshy kromb and wara' enab, and Hamam mahshy of course. Also try our Kebab and Kofta, they are wonderful.

2) I'll take you on a tour to some places inside Cairo (including the Pyramids since that's what most foreigners like to see, though I hate that place), then maybe we can travel to the Northern Coast to the beaches - just 2 - 3 hours by car.

As for Jack (Honda), we can go to City Stars or Arkadia Mall and shop. Or maybe to some stores in Lebanon and Shehab street. There are some good stores there.

If you're thinking of really coming to Egypt - to Cairo or Giza - you should let me know.

Why do you hate the pyramids? I would love to see and climb them.

I would imagine his dislike stems from the tourists all over the world coming to see them. It is probably the number one tourist destination in Africa. I know I would take advantage of them if they were close. The pyramids are on my list of things to see. I like seeing natures sights though, like the grand canyon and the redwood forest. All the money in the world cannot build anything close to those!

The redwood forest must be amazing. Trees like skyscrapers.

I hate going to the Pyramids because the weather is awfully hot there (in the summer) or way too cold there (in the winter). That's just one reason, another reason is too much sand makes me itchy. Another reason is seeing those stupid guides there who spill wrong information, most of the time, and also seeing people sell items for triple their price and the foreigners are happy with that. Also, it's far away from my house, about 30 minutes and that's if the road is not crowded. A lot of the people working there really stink, and there are so many bugs and flies there.. you can't imagine. All the outsiders want in Egypt is to go visit one of the wonders of the world, the Pyramids, but sadly only the ones living in Egypt know the disadvantages of going there.

Europa, if you think climbing a pyramid is easy, you have to come and see for yourself. But oh well, I bet you aren't going to get tired just due to the excitement. I can take you to way better places, mate, and I can even show you some streets where poor people live; you'll laugh your ass off and in the same time pity them. Heh! There's too much to say but I just came back and I am a bit tired, was swimming and doing some gymming.

That sounds like great fun Tarek. Occasionally I drive south to the ghettos of Atlanta and throw stones at the poor. Then I visit Coke World.

alright, so we ran around like tourists during the day. we should relax at night. what's in the theaters now? is it a mix of films from all over the world? Is Harry Potter 6 out yet?

TarekElsakka
07-28-2009, 12:26 PM
It's a mix of Egyptian and US movies. Harry Potter is out but I heard it's a total failure. I've always disliked Harry Potter, ever since the very first part, but a lot of people actually watched all the movies and read the books, weird. If you want to relax at night, turn on the A.C. open the television and lower the volume, and get some sleep. Lmao.
