I just bought these. Should have them by Monday. Inline mic and pod controls. I know they are steep but I got a thing for hi fidelity earbuds. :dft003:coolkid

The triple.fi are great. I have a pair from...2 years ago. Some of the best triple driver headphones short of custom on the market.

Price is worth it, if you've got the quality files to enjoy it.

very nice some people just dont understand good quality audio. Some people on this site spent 700 bucks for the iphone because they didnt wanna sign a contract. I would never spend 700 bucks on a phone, i spent 300 on my westone's and i dont regret it one bit. I have over 5k in home audio and 3k in car audio. Its what i enjoy doing so its worth it to me. We all have different hobbys and passions.

Those do look very nice. I've got the lowly 200vi's. They sound OK, but I'm sure these would sound great.

They had better sound fabulous or I am sending them back! Seriously, I do expect them to be wonderful. Can't wait to get them.
Zwole I am like you. I am definitely into quality audio. I have high end stereo at home and I do listen to my iPod quite a bit. The added voice and pod controls will be a great bonus for work as well. People buy what they like. It's cool when people express their opinions even it it opposes my own.

I really thought about these a few weeks ago, but I'm waiting for them to update the Controls to include Volume Controls

That would be fabulous. I didn't look too much at their other models. Do any of the models made for phone use have inline volume control? I have an inline controller I got with the Shure buds so it isn't really an issue.

Several highe end models come with just the inline controller but i dont like it as sometimes it bumps when walking around and stuff. I just prefer using the side buttons on the phone personally. When are they coming in browngem?

I will receive them today. I will post after I try them out. I also checked out the Westone site. Nice. The custom fit should be awesome. Not a bad price for the buds and fitting.

They are hereeee. WOW. I am listening now. I thought the Shure's were good (and they are) but these...so crisp and clean. The clarity is just outstanding. I can only imagine what the more expensive models sound like. I won't be finding out though lol..I have reached my price point. Brought up my playlist with voice control...nice!!!

congrats on getting them in. Most people say balance armature drivers dont need burn in but in about 40 or 50 hours on those they will open up a bit more as well. Ive read a bunch of peoples views on the triples and burn in time and the conclusion is they will open up a bit more and treble will get even more spark to it. Enjoy ;).

I've been tempted to get these for a long time. But at the rate i go through most earbuds for my phone. I've held off getting a pair. Instead, i'm waiting to get my Custom UE 4 pros. And the wait is killing me. Talk about serious audiophile:005:snicker

If they're as good as i've read about. They might replace my Grado RS2i's

UE 4 Pro has some good reviews. Not a bad price either after including the ear molds.

A review I read was calling it "the poor mans UE Pro 10". The price isn't bad at all.

If going customs i would go with JH's Jerry harvey is the one that started UE and hes moved on. I would love for some jh13's 6 drivers in each ear. You heard that right lol 6 . JH5pro are supposed to out do the low end UE's by a decent margin although not too many people have them yet.

OMG @ 6 drivers. Bet those would be mind blowing. How do you like the gear in this link!

I wonder if you would still have voice control using that dock cable for output?

I'm all for high quality audio, but i just don't understand investing all that money in a portable audio device... especially an iphone or ipod. The very essence of being "on the go" means you're never going to be in a great environment for representing the true nature of the music (or whatever) you are listening to.

Just my opinion.

Most people that invest 1300 or so in headphones dont just listen to them on the go. They also have hundreds of dollard in amps and player's and dac's as well. I listen to my 3's at home when its too late to listen to music on my home stereo. Most good IEM's will isolate at least 25 decibels so even if you are in a subway your still hearing the music pretty good, and you dont have to be in a perfect musical environment to get great sound out of headphones.

I hear ya, but the headphones in the original post are clearly designed to be used with the iphone "on the go" because they've got the mic built in.

BrownGem
07-29-2009, 03:47 PM
Why does the inclusion of the mic make them "on the go"? The mic just allows you to answer the phone no matter whatever environment you may be in.
@Zwole. I have been looking at some of the mini amps. Nothing too fancy. This would be a nice addition to my speaker setup in my office to get a cleaner sound. Any experience or recommendations? I have looked at the Coda 3Move and the Fiio.

check out Head-Fi.com and go to the portable amp area. That is one great site for researching headphones ive been on it for a few months and its overwelming the amount of info on there. Ive never used amps much. My 3's are pretty sensitive so with an amp it would probably just cause a bit of hiss for me. Create a thread over there after you register most of the members are very helpful.

Cool. I am familiar with that site as I came across it in the past couple of days. The amp would really be for pc use and for a pair of Bose I keep at work to plug in. Docks are ok but the sound isn't all that great. Bose are a little heavy on bass. I thought a little amp would flesh them out a bit. Thanks for the info. I will inquire there if it is even worth the effort.

No problem, the bose might benifit a bit from them. I used to have the over ear bose and my dad has the tri ports. If they are full size cans they might benifit a bit from them. I think even the triples bass comes out a bit more from a small amp. They arent as sensitive i dont think as the westones so you might check into that as well. if you get a small amp then you can even rubber band it to the back of your ipod or iphone so that its just a little bit larger.

I love them. They handle the bass heavy tracks better than my Shure e4c. Good balance. I think they really shine on the treble ranges. I love hearing the nuances and sounds that I don't usually notice on my stereo. Everything I have listened to so far sounds fabulous. The mic works really well. Nice to be able to voice command without touching the phone to make calls or change playlists. I want to see if they "open up" after about 50 to 60 hours of play. They are heavy but once you learn how to put them in correctly they are comfortable. I use alcohol to clean my ears and the earbud tips which give me a good seal and they don't slide out.
Listening to music through headphones gives me a new appreciation for what is going on in the music. I really get into the instrumentation. Think I am going to explore some other format than high bitrate mp3. Check out the differences.

i encode my files in 320kbps AAC. Just my preference really. But they sound pretty close to the original WAV file. I should have my UE 4 pro's on Friday!! Can't wait:ok:ok

Aahh you went ahead and sprung for those! Be sure to let me know how they sound. AAC was actually the first format I was going to read more about. Heard about the quality.

I think you won't regret paying for high end buds if you are a bit of an audiophile.

Yep, these are nice phones. A buddy of mine got them too, and they are all that. If I did as much business travel as I used to, I could justify getting these, especially since all of my music is ripped/encoded to ALAC (I'm a Mac guy, and use Steve's proprietary codec :) )
