I know that some of you have seen me mention mQuickDo in several of my recent posts, but I think the combination of mQuickDo and Backgrounder is a killer combination for having a gestures-based multitasking system similar to the Palm Pre.

mQuickDo is only for those running OS 3.0, and is a paid app from Cydia ($7.99), but it's well worth it, in my opinion. :

And with the power to run apps simultaneously with Backgrounder, I'm enjoying a multitasking capability not available with non-jailbroken iPhones. It takes a bit of practice to master the gestures, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results!

DISCLAIMER: I am not a representative of either mQuickDo or Backgrounder, nor do I play one on TV. As a matter of fact, I've never even stayed at a Holiday Inn Express...

I love this combo. I can now multitask. This combo makes it so easy and faster to jump from app to another immediately without skipping a beat.

I agree. This has again changed the way I use apps with the iPhone.

Give yourself a little time to learn the gestures and you should be a happy camper!

I finally have mQuickDo working the way I like. But for me it was rather frustrating, at least with SBSettings loaded. It seemed to take over the status bar, that I normally use to activate SBSettings. So I almost gave up on mQuickDo.

But after playing around with various setting combos I found one that worked well, for my situation. Within mQuickDo's Trigger settings I only have Bar Switch set to on, all others are off (though it works fine with Keyboard Popups Hide set to on).

I'm not using any gestures right now other than the app switcher (app switcher is why I bought for this app). I did this mainly because the trouble I had getting the app to work right, and I wanted to keep the variables to a minimum. But now that I understand it better, and have it working reliably, I might try setting up a few gestures.

But again, app switcher--along with Backgrounder--is IMO the way to go with this app. That combined with the speed and memory of the 3GS provide for a great background operation. I've even left graphic-intensive games running while I went to, say, check on a website. Was kinda surprised that I could even activate mQuickDo within such a game (e.g., Slugger).

I have my gesture bar at the bottom of the screen for convenience.

I keep it at the bottom because I had no luck with SBSettings and mQuickDo sharing the top. That frustration is what nearly caused me to give up on MQD.

Ha! I had mquickdo, qTweeter, & SBSettings at the top. It was very frustrating. I was having the hardest time with the bar at the bottom until I figured out how to increase the height of the bar. Now I can activate mquickdo at the bottom with no problems at all. I just turned off the top bar activation.

Same here. I have SBSettings and qTweeter on the top bar and mQuickDo on the bottom. Works very well for me like that.
