I dropped my iphone in a cup of water. its been a few days and it works fine when i have it on the charger but when i disconnect the iphone from the charger it goes blank with just the white apple on the screen? Could it be the battery or is it just screwed? Thanks

Try putting in a bag of uncooked rice and let it sit under a lamp for at least a week. You need to let it really dry out and don't try to turn it on during that time. Some people suggest leaving it in your car for a couple of days in a bag of rice.....you could put in under the seat. I wouldn't leave it in direct sunlight.

Question - how do you drop your phone into a cup of water?
Answer - First gather your supplies, you'll need an iPhone, a liquid containment device and some Dihydrogen monoxide (actually any liquid refreshment will suffice). Grasp the iPhone in your right hand with your thumb and index finger. Next, pecarioulsy dangle the iPhone over the liquid filled container. Now comes the tricky part, simultaneoulsy abduct the two digits. Newton's law of gravitation will result in the iPhone falling towards the Earth and into the container. Once inside it will rapidly fall into state of hibernation. Three rotations of the Earth in a rice filled bag in close proximity of a heat emitting device will quite possibly, but not miraculosly, pull the liquid from the hydrophobic circuits of the communications device, allowing it to wake.

Sounds like you may have shorted either the battery itself (not likely, since it would have generated a good bit of heat when connected to the power source) but more likely a connection between the battery and the mainboard.
