Slow syncing of contacts

Syncing is suddenly taking about 15 minutes where it used to take only a minute. The culprit is contacts, which I sync with outlook on my Vista PC. If I don't sync contacts everything, including the backup, is fast. I think it worked fine for awhile even after going to 3.0, then suddenly started being slow. I've done a restore on the phone with no effect on this problem. Anyone else experience this?

Shot in the dark suggestion. I don't use Outlook but in the summary tab for contacts do you have 1. Sync all contacts and calendars checked or 2. do you have sync selected calendars and contacts? If you have the first option, try selecting second option and just select everything in the list.
