That is awesome Europa. What a collector's item. I'm not up on the history of Apple but was that their first widely sold computer? I love the comment about 'blistering speed'.

Saw this on Giz earlier today. I love the little "Learn more about upcoming projects" box at the bottom, hinting at the first Mac.

Love it... funny thing is, it's probably worth 10 grand today as a collector piece.

Back in 1983, you could have bought a new car for less than that.:dft008:suprised

And you could buy a five bedroom house for the cost of three Lisa's. Interest rates were high back then, so housing prices were low to offset that.

Watch the movie "pirates of sillicon valley". Good movie on history of Apple and Microsoft. :)

As far as I know, that device actually exists. A friend of mine who is a longtime apple engineer has one in his basement.

I remember first using Apple....sorta. It was back in school and all the PCs were Macs. We had to use them to learn typing at the time and they were the more advanced PCs than Windows. Actually, they still are.

I couldn't have got through my English 101 and 102 classes in college typing all those compositions and a big research paper without renting a Mac late night/early mornings at the Kinko's a few blocks from where I lived. They were easy to use.

My parents first computer for the family was an Apple IIGS (little different than the 3GS we have now huh?) :dft012:wink
I still remember waking up every morning when I was about 4 or 5 so I can play a game which was a little guy going through a cave that required you to use this new thing called the mouse. I am actually an IT Professional now all because of my fascination with that computer. Talk about lighting a fire under my a$$
Ironically, like most big companies, we use IBM PC....but you know where my allegiance lay.
