I am looking for a pair of headphones for my 3gs that have the same options as the buds that come with them. Volume control isn't important, but the voice command ability is a must. I know the Apple InEar's work but Eh, not a huge apple headphone fan. The buds MUST go though, my ears are too small, they fall right out! :( Under/around 75 bucks would be nice too, but willing to pay up to 100 if they are spectacular.. ;) LOl Thanks!!

I am not aware of any at the moment. I'm like you,not a big fan of the stock buds. But it will probably take a few months for 3rd party ones to hit the market.

nuforce ne-7m's sound great for the money around 49 bucks. They are much better SQ wise then the apple dual drivers. Look at some of the reviews on head-fi.com they are great bang for buck iems.

Do they support voice command? I couldn't find that in the description on their website.

One option is you can modify the stock iphone headphones rather easily, i did it to mine and the sound quailty improvement is really amazing.

The Ultimate Ears 200vi DO support voice control, I use it every day. I imagine the 220vi also do, and so do the 170vi ($50 on amazon, free ship).

I just made myself some "AppleSkulls" with this method. This has to be the best tip I have ever seen on the Internet! Thanks!

Glad it worked for you. I think I understand though why apple chose to use the loose fitting stock buds, because when you do swap out the stock buds with noise cancelling ones, it's a little difficult to have a conversation on a call because your hearing is somewhat plugged and you can't hear yourself speaking.... somewhat anyway.... But I still prefer the quality of sound with the swapped out buds to the stock ones.

I agree. I take one out of my ear when I have a call. The stock buds hurt my ears after a while. Back on topic lol. I would think the in ear phones would work no?

I think any headphones or earbuds should be able to be modified as long as it can be taken apart and resoldered.
I'm liking how the voice control works via the button on my modified earbuds too. Great feature on the 3GS.

No manly man around to help you with it? You can do this...when you think about it, a soldering gun is very similar to a curling iron or hair dryer :dft011:wicked_smile.

Any headphones with the clicker and a mic will work with VC.

Not true! I have a pair of V-Moda Vibe Duo that have a clicker and a mic that I used with my old 2g phone and worked perfectly but with this phone clicking the clicker does nothing. Doesn't pause it, doesn't advance it, doesn't turn on VC, it is like nothing is even happening when I click it. I clicked, doubleclicked, held the clicker, tried it all and nothing.. :(

Weird. Mine worked on my V1, 3G, and my 3GS.

I'd have to believe there is something wrong with your headphones or the handset, then. The way the clicker works on these is very simple, it essentially creates a short in the normal headphone circuit and the phone interprets this as a particular command. I've actually been able to skip songs with regular headphones by unplugging/plugging the connector quickly enough.

I don't think it is the headphones. If I plug them into the V1 Phone, they work perfectly, exactly how they are supposed to. One click for pause, two clicks to advance. I plug them into the 3GS, and I click and NOTHING happens. Seriously, they don't work, I'm not crazy. LOL And I don't think it is the handset because the headphones that came WITH the handset work perfectly the way they are supposed to. So if that was the case, they wouldn't I would think?

Must be something with those headphones. My battle-tested 1G headphones work as expected with my 3GS, including voice command.

What versions of the vibe duos are you guys using? Do they have angled or straight plugs?
My duos with the angled plug work fine with my 3gs.
The straight plug version was the first one(designed for the v1), but they changed the design to an angled plug because the straight one broke frequently... Maybe there were other updates that added compatibility to the 3g or 3gs.

Ohhh maybe that is the difference! I have the staight plug one. I got them shortly after the V1 came out using the $100 gift card Apple gave all of us that over paid by buying it opening day.. (roll eyes) But I bet that is why mine don't work maybe!
