Hi,
I just got the iphone 3G since it was less than the 3G S, but I found out that you cant shoot video on it! Does anyone know if Apple will release an update that will let people do video on the 3G? Because im fairly sure that the 3G can do video. Thanks.

BTW, didn't you do your homework before buying the 3G, i.e. checking it's haves and have-nots? For shame!!:034:headspounding

But be advised that video recording on the 3G will not be as robust as on the 3GS. Cycorder will do a passable job, though.

Passable is even iffy. It's choppy as hell, if you want something, it will work... but overall...:046:thumbs_down

I've actually seen pretty good video with Cycorder, though moving the camera slowly seems to be the key.

Well, if that's all you have, it's not bad. But compared to the 3GS... not even close!
Oh yea, the same video apps that work on the 3G will also work on the 1G. Just thought I'd throw that out before someone asked. ;)

True. And having your subject not make any quick actions either. So, it's useful if you want to film art hanging on a wall... (that's pretty extreme, but still). :dft002:amazed

I dowbt they will ever release a update to add video to the 3G as its one of the main selling points of the 3GS

The 3G won't do video, ever, officially.

I'm predicting that they never will. Although the hardware on the 3G is capable of recording video, it can't do it as well as the 3GS. They don't make a habit of allowing low quality features. It's also one of the main selling points of the 3GS, so it wouldn't make much sense from a marketing stand point.

From what I understand, the jailbreak apps such as Cycorder use the preview function of the 3G's camera, so quality will never be as good as the native video recording on the 3GS.

He's right. The faults in the 3G are the selling points of the 3GS. That is why they didn't put MMS or Stero Bluetooth on the Original iPhone; they wanted the people with that model to upgrade. Damn Apple and their marketing schemes. Same to AT&T for not supporting MMS in the iPhone. Now they're getting sued for it. It just makes me :laugh2:
