Candyshell renew?

I have no clue why Speck would do this to themselves, as I love the color combo's they have for the Candyshell. However, this is a part of an e-mail I received in response to my inquiry about getting a replacement for my broken candyshell;

Unfortunately the white Candyshell has been discontinued and we will not be receiving any more. New colors will be available by the end of the month. The new color combinations are as follows:

WHITE / LIGHT GREY
BLACK / DARK GREY
PINK / LIGHT PINK
BLUE / DARK BLUE
PURPLE / LIGHT PURPLE

If you send me a picture of the Apple store receipt as well as a picture of the damage and note your color preference, I can have one sent out to you when they become available.

Yikes. I have the Cranberry/White color and it definitely goes well with my White iPhone. Those color combinations don't sound too appealing to me...

Well, given that the primary objection to the candyshell (at least in my store) were to the color choices, I think the case will probably sell better with more "normal" options.

I wish they'd kept the old colors but I heard rumors from them that it was tough to keep a good supply of them in the more "bizarre" colors for some sort of manufacturing reason.

They sound great to me, personally. I hated the old colors at first, though the white/cranberry grew on me to the point that I bought it. It's been my favorite case so far, and I'm totally looking forward to seeing the new color combos.

And if you check the user comments on Speck's own site, the bulk of the comments were people complaining about the current color combos.

ETA: Looks like the key lime color's gone from the site already.

Actually, I thought their previous colors kinda sucked. The white and cranberry was OK and black and yellow was fine if you like those colors. Otherwise I thought the colors were bizarre. That's why I never got one. I am excited that they are making a change!

I'm thinking about the purple one but still unsure. What's stopping me is I've seen video of taking off the case & it looks really difficult plus reviews say over time the case starts cracking.

WR was very cool about the situation; apparently, Speck's not releasing the product to resellers yet and don't plan on doing so until the beginning of August. They said that they'd understand if I canceled, so I did. Of course, I turned right around and ordered a Solo FX in red from them, so they wound up coming out something like $0.74 ahead in the end. :p I'm just SO impatient to see the new color in person! It's supposed to be here by Tuesday afternoon, so I'll try to get pics up then.

Like I looooooove how my CandyShell feels in my hand, and loved the Slider for the same reason (but was scared away from it because of the scratch thing). I just fell in love with the red FX after seeing a pic of it on someone's black phone & wanted a change from pink and/or white. I hope it looks as good on my white phone as it did on the black!

I did notice it did attract some dust under the lip near the screen, but I would take it out of the case every other day to clean the phone & case. When you first put it on, the holes may not align correctly around the headphone jack & camera so you kinda have to massage it but the more you take it on/off it will loosen up a bit. It has a very slight tacky texture to it but not enough to attract lint. Overall it really is a good case. I'm keeping it so I can switch off between it and the candyshells since it is slimmer than the candyshells.
I had a slider for my v1 phone & I would never get another. It put nicks on my bezel & put a hairline scratch on the back of my phone.

Is the solo fx slimmer than the regular iskin solo? Cuz I have the black iskin solo and to me it seems plenty bulky, about as bulky as a incase slider.

According to iskin's website, it says both the reg solo & fx have a thickness of 1mm. I also checked incase's website and they also say the slider has a thickness of 1mm.

I just bought my black/gray one from the apple store in orlando, fl. it was the only one that they had, aside from the white/cranberry in which they had a ton of. They were retailing for $39.95 at the store, but the old cases were $34.95. after manager override, it came out to $31.90 out the door. I guess you could say it was a good day for me.

Mine came today and I LOVE it. It's the perfect shade of pink, IMO, darker than it appears on the site. I apologize for the semi-crap pics; it's kind of dark in my apartment and (obviously) it's nighttime, so there's no natural light. The color's pretty true, though.

ETA: Just checked it out on the site again, and yeah, the color's MUCH nicer in person! It looks kind of Pepto-Bismolish online and in reality it's kind of a bright raspberry/watermelon color. LOVE IT.

Got my Black/Gray Candyshell via FedEx this morning. Very professional looking... more so than the Black/Yellow that I was using. It came with an antiglare screen protector as opposed to the clear... I like the antiglare better although it does detract from the sharpness of the Iphone screen a little bit. BCA

If anybody's interested in seeing some of these, I was just at Office Depot and they have the purple, black/grey, and white/grey CandyShells in stock. They also had a couple of PixelSkins and a couple of See-Thrus as well, FWIW.

I tried out the new black one but the corners where the plastic and rubber were fused ripped after only taking it on & off a couple times. I tried another and sure enough it ripped too. Otherwise would have been a good case. Poorly made.
