I updated to iPhone OS 3.0 and now I am having problems with my contacts. I had my iphone backed up but the contacts did go over.
I still have an "older revision" of my contacts from Windows Contacts, but it won't seem to transfer over when I click sync.
Please advise. I have tried to restore backups, and for some reason they do not have my contacts, although I know the previous backup "Jun 22" did have all my contacts.

I'm currently playing around with iTunes at the moment and if its checked with Windows Contacts it doesn't work.
I would tweek a few settings, restart the computer and then I see "iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from sync services. Reconnect or try again later." Then nothing shows up under the contacts section.
Could there be something wrong with my iTunes? I have tried the "services fix" by restarting the Apple Mobile Device service with no luck. I don't want to uninstall iTunes and lose my backup, that would be disastrous.

Try restoring from Back up again.
For future reference, you should back up/sync your contacts up with a Yahoo or Gmail account in iTunes so you don't find yourself in this situation again. Another option, is to use Mobile Me. You never know when you are going to need to restore the phone to factory settings. Relying on the iTunes back ups themselves is a bad idea.

Well currently, it won't let me sync my contacts with anything, I can't seem to find the problem.
All I really want to do now is to use my Windows Contacts onto my iPhone, since I have it backed up there. But iTunes doesn't seem to work, no option available.

I deleted bookmarks from my iphone because they were my wife's and I didn't want them on the phone. When I synced the iphone with the PC, it deleted all of my wife's bookmarks!! How do i prevent this in the future? I assume it just has to do with preferences in iTunes, but couldn't really specifically figure it out. Thanks.
